The RTG Fellowship Program offers UCI Ph.D. students a hands-on introduction to the business of university technology transfer and intellectual property management.
UCI Beall Applied Innovation (BAI) turns UCI knowledge into products that make a difference. The role of the Research Translation Group (RTG) at BAI is to safeguard ideas and inventions born from the exceptional minds of UCI researchers, ensuring that these inventions are commercialized and benefit the general public.

The RTG Fellowship Program offers UCI Ph.D. students in technical disciplines a hands-on introduction to the business of university technology transfer and intellectual property management. Fellows will contribute to de-risking and marketing early-stage technologies by drafting invention summaries, performing competitive landscape analyses, identifying markets and potential licensees for a technology, and more.

Alumni of the RTG Fellowship Program have successfully transitioned into careers in Tech Transfer, Business, Consulting, and Law. RTG Fellows will garner invaluable insight into the technology commercialization process, and the skills gained from working at the intersection of science and business will positively impact RTG Fellows’ future career endeavors.

This fellowship is part-time and paid. Applicants invited for interviews will be assigned a short case study to be completed within 1 week. To apply, please see the Qualifications and Requirements.
